The German members of the committee on economic cooperation and the development, on human rights and humanitarian aids headed by Mr. Christian Ruck on Wednesday 30th January met with the undersecretary of the Government of Southern Sudan’s Ministry of Regional Cooperation Dr.Cirino Hiteng Ofuho. During the meeting they discussed the issues of cooperation and development in southern Sudan .

Releasing a brief statement after the meeting Mr.Christian Ruck had this to say based on the purpose of their visit:

“…The important topic is peace between the south and the north…and for us it is very important to see how this peace treaty makes process, how it will be resolved and how the development in the southern part of Sudan is going on. But our main purpose in visiting Juba, Southern Sudan is to see how we the German can assist in this process.

I am here for the first time but my colleague told me that he sees much progress over the last years; everyone can see that there is process going on and that there is much work being done in terms of construction, reconstruction and also economically…”
