US Senator arrives in Juba in regards to CPA implementation

A US delegation led by the US Senator Mr Donald Payne arrived in Juba, South Sudan for an official two day visit from the 6th to the 7th January 2008. Within their program the first day included a meeting with the First Vice President of Sudan and the President of the Government of Southern Sudan H.E General Salva Kiir Mayardit who recieved at his presidential residency the American congress delegation.

In a press statement the Minister of Presidential affairs Dr Luka Biong Deng said the meeting discussed the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the American role in supporting the two partners effort to implement the agreement fully. The meeting also touched on the American's readiness to link the neighbouring Ethiopia and Kenya with Southern Sudan through constructing road infrastructure.

The next day the US delegation visited Boma National Park in Jonglei State accompanied by a small group from the Ministry of Wildlife, following the return of numerous animals to the area after the two decades of civil war in the Sudan.
