SPLM representatives visit the United States Wed, April 1 2009 |

A high level delegation of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement(SPLM) is currently in the United States to meet with the new US administration, the US Congress and United Nations officials to review the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) between the SPLM and the National Congress Party (NCP), the ICC’s indictment of Sudanese president, Omer Al-Bashir, prospects for peace in Darfur and the recent expulsion of international NGOs from Sudan’s country, among other issues. Headed by Mr. Pagan Amum Okiech – the Secretary General of the SPLM, the delegation arrived Washington D.C. on March 28, 2009 and is scheduled to be in the US until April 4, 2009. The SPLM will hold a public event on Wednesday, April 1 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the Woodrow Wilson Center. Another event for the Sudanese community in the United States has been scheduled for Friday, April 3 at 7 P.M. The members of the delegation are: 1. Mr. Pagan Amum Okiech, SPLM Secretary General 2. Mr. Deng Alor Kuol, member of the SPLM’s Political Bureau and minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan 3. Mr. Abdel Aziz Adam El Hilu, member of the SPLM’s Political Bureau and National Secretary for Political Affairs & Mobilization, SPLM 4. Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, member of the SPLM’s National Liberation Council and the Government of South Sudan’s minister of Regional Cooperation 5.
